Privacy Policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information StatusPay collects when you use the StatusPay Android app or www.statuspay.africa, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. StatusPay is operated by Tokonomica in Nigeria and processes personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name or display name, email address and/or phone number, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with a one-time code, we store the phone number the code was sent to.
- Location you choose to share: country, state, city and LGA that you type in, used only to show you campaigns for your area. The app does not use GPS or track your location in the background.
- Channel links: the WhatsApp number or Telegram channel you link so we can verify your campaign posts.
- Campaign evidence: links, screenshots or media you submit as proof of a post, and the verification code and posting time.
- Optional WhatsApp Status verification: if you turn it on, a StatusPay verification number views your WhatsApp Status. We store only Status posts that contain your StatusPay verification code: the caption, posting time and a copy of the media. Posts without a code are not stored. You can turn this off in the app at any time.
- Payout details (publishers): when you add a bank account for withdrawals, it is checked with our payment processor, Paystack. We keep the bank name, the account name, the last four digits of the account number and Paystack's recipient reference. We never ask for your BVN, NIN, card PIN, or online-banking password.
- Payments (advertisers): campaign payments are made on Paystack's secure checkout. Card details go directly to Paystack; StatusPay never sees or stores your full card number.
- Wallet and transaction records: earnings, holds, withdrawals and campaign payments, kept in a ledger.
- Security and device information: sign-in sessions, basic device information (such as the platform you accepted the terms on), short-lived server logs that may include your IP address, and audit logs of important actions, used to keep accounts safe and prevent fraud.
The app does not access your contacts, camera, microphone or background location, and it does not contain advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
2. How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To match publishers with eligible campaigns and verify that campaign posts were made.
- To calculate earnings, process withdrawals and campaign payments, and keep accurate financial records.
- To detect and prevent fraud, duplicate or reused evidence, and abuse.
- To send service messages such as sign-in codes, password resets and security alerts.
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- Paystack, to verify bank accounts, send payouts and take campaign payments.
- Service providers that host our servers and database and deliver email and SMS, only as needed to run StatusPay.
- Advertisers see campaign results (such as verified post counts), not your contact details or bank details.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
4. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage, and private evidence is served only to signed-in, authorised users. Withdrawals require admin approval.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your personal details as described on our account deletion page. Payment, ledger and audit records are kept, without your name or contact details, for as long as financial and tax law requires. Campaign evidence is kept for as long as needed to settle disputes and prevent fraud.
6. Your rights and choices
You can see and update your profile in the app, turn WhatsApp Status verification off, and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. You may also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to object to or restrict its use, by contacting us below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
7. Children
StatusPay is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
We will update this page and the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about important changes.
9. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, WhatsApp or call StatusPay support on +2348089209740. Never send your password, one-time codes or full bank details in a message.
